NOTD: China Glaze Harmony

Zoals ik al eerder schreef heb ik vorige week mijn eerste bestelling via eBay binnengekregen! De inhoud: 6 lakjes van China Glaze uit de Romantique collectie. Op andere blogs werd er veelal lovend over de lakken gesproken, o.a. omdat ze erg goed gebruikt kunnen worden voor stamping. Ideaal dus, aangezien ik hier een groot fan van ben.

As I mentioned before, my first order on eBay arrived last week. It contained 6 polishes from the China Glaze Romantique collection. On other blogs these polishes where highly recommended, one reason was that these polished are excellent for stamping purposes. As I’m a big fan of stamping, this seems to be ideal. 
The 6 polishes I bought are showed in the picture above.

Vandaag ga ik jullie een swatch laten zien van het lakje Harmony. Harmony is een lila/paarse lak. Op de foto’s heb ik 2 lagen gebruikt. Het lakje droogde vrij snel, wat zowel een voordeel als een nadeel is. Je moet namelijk vrij snel lakken, om oneffenheden te voorkomen.
Zelf ben ik helemaal weg van dit lakje!! De kleur is gewoon helemaal te gek, in het echt nog mooier dan op de foto’s :). De kleur komt trouwens het dichtst in de buurt van foto 1. Op de één of andere manier veranderde de kleur iedere keer als ik een nieuwe foto nam...

Today I will show you a swatch of the polish Harmony. Harmony is a lilac/ purple polish. I used 2 layers of nail polish to cover my nails in the pictures. The polish dries quickly, which is both an advantage as an disadvantage. To prevent irregularities, you have to work very quick. I’m totally in love with this polish. The color looks even better in real person than in the pictures, and is absolutely awesome :). Btw, the color looks in real the most like fig.1. For some reason, every time I took a picture, the color changed a little bit...

French mani meets Adore

Jaah!! Eindelijk weer een blogpost online. Shame on me :$.. Vorige week heb ik als laatste een stukje geschreven over het gebruik van de French liner van Herôme. De dag na het stuk vond ik mijn French manicure al behoorlijk saai, en besloot hem gelijk ook maar op te pimpen. Nu, een week later, staan de foto’s nog steeds op mijn computer te wachten om online te gaan.

Yesss!! Finally a new blog post online. Shame on me :$.. Last week I wrote about how to use the French liner from Herôme. The day after my post, I already found my French manicure pretty boring, so I decided to pimp it up. Now, a week later, the pictures of the result are still waiting on my computer to be published.

Om deze French manicure wat leuker te maken heb ik dit keer imageplate BM20 gebruikt. Op deze imageplate staan full nail stamping patronen. Tenminste, dat zouden ze moeten zijn. Mijn nagels zijn namelijk vaak net te lang voor de patronen. Dit kwam nu mooi uit. Ik heb het patroon namelijk nu zo gestempeld dat hij net onder de tips van mijn nagels blijft. De lak die ik gebruikt heb om te stempelen is ‘Adore’ van China Glaze (jaja één van mijn nieuwe lakjes uit de Romantique collectie!).

To make this French manicure more attractive, I used image plate BM20. Full nail stamping patterns can be found on this image plate. However, I experienced that my nails are most of the time too long for the patterns. For this manicure I didn’t want to stamp over the tips of my nails, so this time that wasn’t a problem. The polish I used to stamp is ‘Adore’ from China Glaze (yess this is one of my new polishes from the Romantique collection!).

Testing French Liner from Herôme

Vandaag ga ik jullie een French manicure laten zien, gemaakt met behulp van de French liner van Herôme. Ik heb deze pen samen met de wonderpen en 2 vijlen van Herôme gekocht bij de site waat.nl.
*waat.nl is een site waar iedere dag een dagaanbieding op staat. Soms komen er ook leuke nagellaksetjes langs. Nadeel van de site is de levertijd en soms ook de verzendkosten.

The wonderpen, the French liner and the two nail files.

Today I’m gonna show you a French manicure, made with the French liner from Herôme. I bought this pen together with the wonderpen and two nail files from Herôme at the site waat.nl (a Dutch site who delivers only to the Netherlands and Belgium).

Voor ik de French manicure pen uit ga proberen heb ik eerst mijn nagels rozer gemaakt met het French manicure lakje van Eveline cosmetics. Daarna kon ik eindelijk beginnen met het uitproberen van de pen.
Mijn verwachtingen voor de pen zijn vrij hoog. De tekst op de pen is dan ook:
‘Quick and easy French manicure stift. For bright, white nail tips.’
Vooral naar het quick and easy ben ik erg benieuwd ! Mijn ervaringen met een kwastje zijn namelijk alles behalve quick and easy. Een hoop gedoe met plakband, uitlopers en te dik of te dun smeren.
Met de pen hoop ik dat dit nu verleden tijd is!

Before I can try the French manicure pen, I made my nails more pink with a french manicure polish of Eveline cosmetics. After this I could finally try the pen.
My expectations for the pen are quit high. The text on the pen says:
‘Quick and easy French manicure stift. For bright, white nail tips.’
Especially to the quick and easy, I’m very curious! My experiences with a brush are anything but quick and easy. Clutter with tape, runners and too thick or thin layers. With the pen, I hope this has now been resolved!

Bij het openen van de pen blijkt dat deze werkt als een soort tipex/corrigeerpen. Eerst schudden voor gebruik en dan de pen recht naar beneden met de punt op een papiertje zetten. Bij het zetten van druk op de punt gaat deze naar binnen en komt er witte nagellak langs de punt naar beneden. Na een aantal keren drukken en even wachten, is de punt doordrongen van het nagellak. Hierna is het erg simpel!

After opening the pen, It seems to work the same as a Tipp-Ex correction fluid pen. Before using the pen, it needs to be shaken. After this, press the point on a paper. By putting weight on the point, it will release a small amount of nail polish. After putting weight a few times on the point, and wait for a while (so the point can absorb the polish), it’s now ready to be used.

Voordelen van de pen:
* geen geklieder meer met een kwastje
* niet meer hoeven afplakken
* dekt vrijwel in 1x

Een nadeel van de pen is dat bij het drukken er soms teveel nagellak uit komt. Ook ben ik bang dat de punt snel zal uitdrogen, omdat er alleen een dop opzit als bescherming. Als laatste vind ik het vrij vervelend dat ik niet kan zien hoeveel nagellak er nog in de pen zit.

I also used the wonderpen on my nails, so that's why my nails/fingers are shiny.

Pros
*no more messing around with brushes
* no need for masking my nails with tape
* covers most of the time in 1x

A con of the pen is that sometimes it releases too much nail polish. I’m also afraid that the tip will dry out quickly, because the point is only protected by a cap. Last, I find it really annoying that I can’t see how much nail polish is still left in the pen.

Mijn conclusie is dat ik de pen veel handiger vind werken dan een gewoon kwastje.
Wat zijn jullie ervaringen?

My conclusion: this pen is much easier in use than a normal brush.

Spa nails

Vandaag weer een blog na maandag een heerlijk dagje ontspannen/relaxed te hebben in de Zwaluwhoeve!!
Vlak voor ik heen ging kon ik het toch niet laten om nog even een passende nailart te maken ( in zover er een passende nailart bestaat voor een saunabezoek :P ).
De nagellakjes die ik gebruikt heb zijn La Playa en Bailamos van Orly, en komen beiden uit de Viva collectie. La Playa is een donkerblauwe cremelak. Bailamos is qua kleur wat minder goed te omschrijven. Het lakje komt het dichtst in de buurt van lichtblauw/turquoise, en heeft een mooie blauwgroene shimmer.

Today a new blog again, after being to a Spa on Monday! Before I went, I couldn’t resist making a new nail art which suits the location (If it’s actually possible to make a matching nail art for a visit to the Spa :P ).
I used the polishes La Playa and Bailamos from Orly, both polishes are part of the Viva collection. La Playa is a darkblue crème polish. The color of Bailamos is a little bit difficult to describe. However I think the color is a combination of turquoise/blue and has a beautiful bluegreen shimmer.

Om het geheel wat vrolijker en speelser te maken, heb ik vlinders gestempeld op mijn wijsvinger. Hiervoor heb ik weer het lakje La Playa gebruikt, zodat deze kleur nu terugkomt op iedere vinger.

To make the manicure a little bit more cheerful and playful , I stamped some butterflies on my index finger. For this I used the polish La Playa again, so that this color comes back on all of my fingers now.

Eigenlijk had ik het idee om op de andere vingers ook nog vlinders te willen stempelen, alleen dan met de kleur Bailamos. Helaas had ik hier niet genoeg tijd meer voor. En toen ik terug was van mijn dagje relaxen, was het nagellak door het vele zwemmen er al gedeeltelijk afgebrokkeld.
Misschien ook maar beter, want less is more!

At first I had the idea to stamp the butterflies on all of my fingers, only than with the color Bailamos. Unfortunately, I didn’t had enough time for this. Perhaps even better, because less is more!

Verder ben ik helemaal blij vandaag!! Want vanmorgen zijn EINDELIJK, na een paar week wachten, mijn 6 romantique lakjes van China Glaze binnengekomen die ik besteld had op e-bay!!! Ik kan niet wachten om ze uit te proberen!
Als extraatje bleek ook mijn bestelling van Waat te zijn binnengekomen, met de wonderpen, de French Manicure pen en nog 2 nagelvijlen van Herôme!
Maar morgen hier meer over!

Furthermore, I’m so happy today! Because this morning, FINALLY, after waiting a few weeks, I received my 6 romantique polishes from China Glaze. I ordered these on e-bay. I can’t wait to try them out!
As an extra, another order also arrived. I ordered the wonderpen, the French Manicure pen and two nail files from Herôme.
But more about this tomorrow!

Earlier creations

Voordat ik aan deze blog begon, was ik al druk aan het experimenteren met nagels lakken en het mooier maken van mijn nagels door middel van het stempelen met Konad. Vandaag wil ik hiervan een paar foto’s laten zien aan jullie. Geen super lange blog dit keer dus, maar alleen onderstaande foto’s :P. Enjoy!

Before I started this blog, I was already experimenting with nail polish and making my nails gorgeous by stamping them with Konad. Today I will show you some pictures of this creations. No super long stories this time, but only some pictures below :P. Enjoy!

Als basis heb ik een lakje uit de Orly Viva collectie gebruikt, namelijk: Fiesta.
Voor het stempelen heb ik plate M35 en de stempellakken blauw en donkerpaars van Konad gebruikt.

At first I used a polish out of the Orly Viva collection, named: Fiesta.
After this I stamped with plate M35 and used the stamping polishes blue and dark purple from Konad.

Als basis heb ik zwarte nagellak van de Hema gebruikt.
Voor het stempelen heb ik plate M35 en de witte stempellak van Konad gebruikt.

At first I used a the black polish from the Hema (Dutch store).
After this I stamped with plate M35 and used the white stamping polish from Konad.

Outta control...part two!

Vandaag ga ik jullie een tweede nailart laten zien die ik gemaakt heb met als basis Outta Control van Teeez. Een paar dagen geleden heb ik dit geweldige holografische lakje al besproken (voor dit artikel klik hier).
Deze keer heb ik onderstaande nailart gemaakt.

Ik heb hiervoor de lakken Silver van Gosh en de black lak van de Hema gebruikt. De scheiding tussen de 2 lakken heb ik gemaakt door mijn nagels voor de helft af te plakken met tape. Om het geheel nog wat ‘op te pimpen’ heb ik bij de zwart/paarse nagels, witte kristalletjes op de scheidingslijn aangebracht.

Today I’m gonna show you a second nail art made with 3 polishes: Outta control from Teeez, Silver from Gosh and black from the Hema ( The last polish comes from a Dutch store). A couple of days ago I already reviewed the great holographic polish Outta control (for the article click here).
This time I made a second nail art which you can see in the picture bellow.

To create the two part design on my nails, I used some tape to cover up half of my nails. To complete the design, I added some white rhinestones on the nails which are black/purple.

Ik weet nog niet welke van de 2 nailarts ik het leukste vind. Welke vinden jullie het mooiste?

I’m not sure which of the two nail arts I prefer the most. Which one do you prefer?

Marbled nails, love it or…..

Vandaag wil ik jullie mijn eerste poging tot marblen tonen. Ik had het al een paar keer voorbij zien komen op andere blogs, en vond het eindresultaat er vaak erg mooi uitzien. Dus tijd om zelf een poging te wagen.

Today I will show you my first attempt to marble. I’ve seen this type of polishing the first time on some other blogs. The end result always looked awesome. So, time to try this by myself.

Wat heb ik gebruikt om te marblen?
Een bakje/bekertje met water.
2 kleuren nagellak van China Glaze:
                - Midnight Kiss
                - Mommy Kissing Santa
Een satéprikker
En een heleboel tissues, wattenstaafjes en nagellakremover!

What did I use to marble?
A cup of water.
2 colors of nail polish from China Glaze:
               - Midnight Kiss
               - Mommy Kissing Santa
A toothpick
And at last a lot of tissues, cotton swabs and nail polish remover!

Marbled nails maak je door nagellak in een bakje met water te druppelen. Door 2 kleuren (meer kleuren kan natuurlijk ook) om en om te druppelen in het midden van het bakje, onstaan er kringen. Met deze kringen kan je leuke patronen maken met behulp van een satéprikker.

You can make marbled nails by dripping nail polish in a cup of water. By putting a drip of each color ( you can also use more colors) in the middle of the cup, you create circles of nail polish.
By using a toothpick, you can make funny patterns with these circles.

Wat ik zelf het lastigste vond, was überhaupt het krijgen van de kringen. Als je water namelijk niet helemaal op kamertemperatuur is, wordt de lak gelijk hard en drijft het als een soort vlies op het water. Op blogs wordt ook wel de tip gegeven om Spa blauw te gebruiken in plaats van kraanwater. Omdat het mij al vrij snel lukte met normaal kraanwater heb ik deze tip niet uitgeprobeerd.

I found it really hard to create the circles. When the water isn’t totally at room temperature, the nail polish hardens out instantly. When this happens, you can’t use it for marbling anymore. On a couple of blogs, there’s a tip for this: using mineral water that’s coming out of a bottle instead of ordinary tap water. Because marbling with normal water went pretty smooth, I didn’t test this suggestion.

Toen ik een patroon af had heb ik mijn vinger  horizontaal op het patroon laten zakken. Met de satéprikker heb ik toen het restant van de nagellak wat nog op het water dreef zoveel mogelijk weggeveegd. Dit terwijl ik mijn nagel nog in het water hield. Daarna heb ik hetzelfde gedaan bij mijn andere vingers.

When I completed my pattern, I dropped my finger horizontal in the pattern. With the toothpick I removed most of the nail polish that was still floating on the water. During this, I still held my finger in the water. After the nail polish was attached to my nail, I did the same with my other fingers.

Zoals jullie hieronder zien is het mij nog niet gelukt om dezelfde patronen te krijgen, maar oefening baart kunst!
Als laatste heb ik nog een tip. Ik was namelijk zo eigenwijs om mijn vinger niet af te plakken, met als resultaat dat mijn hele vinger onder de nagellak zat! Zelfs na flink bezig te zijn geweest met nagellakremover zie je nog overal resten/glitters van het nagellak zitten! Dus toch maar afplakken de volgende keer.

As you can see on the pictures, I didn’t succeed in making the same pattern on all of my nails. But with some practice, I’ll hopefully do better next time. At last I have a tip for you guys. I was a little bit stubborn by not taping of my finger, resulting that my whole finger had nail polish everywhere. Even when I cleaned my fingers with a lot of nail polish remover, you can still see some polish and glitter on my fingers. So next time I’m definitely gonna tape first.

Voor een eerste keer vind ik mijn marbled nails in ieder geval goed gelukt! Wat vinden jullie? En hebben jullie zelf al wel eens gemarbled?

Outta control..!!

Vandaag laat ik jullie een lakje zien waar ik echt helemaal verliefd op ben geworden! Het lakje heet: “Outta control” en is van het merk Teeez. Een naar mijn idee vrij onbekend merk. Het lakje is te verkrijgen bij een aantal filialen van de Da of Etos. Helaas hebben niet alle filialen het merk al, maar hopelijk komt dat nog! Op teeez.eu kun je zien waar bij jou in de buurt de lakjes te krijgen zijn. De lakjes zijn €4,50 per stuk.

Today I will show you a polish which I've become totally in love with! The polish is called "Outta Control" and is from the brand Teeez. I believe it’s a relatively unknown brand (at least I never heard of it before). Teeez is available in a number of DA or Etos stores (these are Dutch stores). On teeez.eu you can see where in your area you can get this polishes. The polishes are € 4.50 each.

Outta control is een paars/lila holografisch lakje. Het lakje smeert super. Op onderstaande foto heb ik 2 lagen gebruikt en dit dekt prima.

Outta Control is a purple / lilac holographic polish. It lubricates great. On the picture below I used two layers and it covers well.

Eigenlijk vond ik het zonde om nog iets toe te voegen aan dit lakje, want gewoon ‘nude’ is hij al super! Uiteindelijk heb ik ervoor gekozen om met Make An Entrance van China Glaze mijn nagels wat verder op te pimpen. Om het geheel af te maken heb ik nog een zwart lijntje getrokken tussen beide kleuren, met onderstaande foto als resultaat!

At first I thought it was a shame to add anything to this polish, just as it’s 'nude' already great! But then, without trying will never know if it’s a shame :). I chose to use ‘Make An Entrance’ from China Glaze to pimp my nails even more. To complete this look I added a black line between the two colors, resulting in the picture below!

Naast Outta control heb ik ook nog de lakjes Smooth en Cool gekocht van Teeez. Zouden jullie hiervan ook graag een swatch en/of nail-art willen zien? Let me know!

China Glaze Sci-Fi with nailart

Vandaag laat ik jullie een nail-art creatie zien met als basis Sci-Fi van China Glaze uit de Khrome collectie. Het is alweer een tijdje geleden dat ik deze nail-art had gemaakt, en ik twijfelde of ik hem zou showen omdat de foto's niet zo scherp zijn geworden.

Today I will show you a nail-art creation with as base Sci-Fi of China Glaze. This polish is from the Khrome collection. It has been a while since I made this look, and I wasn’t sure to show it to you guys, because the pictures aren’t that sharp.

Het lakje Sci-Fi van China Glaze smeert super en dekt al in 2 lagen. De kleur van de lak is erg apart, zilver met lichte lavendel tinten.
Na de basislaag heb ik mijn Konadplate M35 erbij gepakt om te stempelen met konad black. Omdat ik hierna het resultaat toch nog vrij somber vond, heb ik in iedere bloem een paars kristalletje geplaatst. Om het geheel daarna af te maken, heb ik mijn nail-art afgelakt met Yves Rocher Manucure Soin Blanchissant. Eigenlijk is deze lak bedoeld als basislak voor een manicure, maar ik gebruik hem zelf erg vaak als coating. Het lakje is namelijk niet helemaal neutraal, maar heeft een paarse gloed. Dit maakt het geheel bij deze nail-art compleet af, omdat het de lavendelkleur in het zilver versterkt. Jammer genoeg kan je dit niet zo goed zien op de foto's.

The polish Sci-Fi of China Glaze lubricates great and covers in 2 layers. The color of the polish is very special, some sort of silver with light lavender shades. After painting my nails with Sci-Fi, I took my Konadplate M35 and used the black Konad stamping polish to stamp. Because I found the result a little bit dark and boring, I put a purple rhinestone on top of each flower. To complete the look, I finished my nail-art with a coat of Yves Rocher Manucure Soin Blanchissant. Actually is this polish intended as a base coat for a manicure, but I use it very often as a coating. This polish (coating) isn’t entirely colorless, but has a purple glow. This purple glow makes the nail-art complete, because now you can see the lavender color even more in the silver. Unfortunately, you can’t see this very good in my pictures.

Al met al vind ik het een mooie art geworden!

French Manicure meets Orly Midnight Star

Al geruime tijd ben ik behoorlijk verslaafd aan nagellak. Dit is begonnen toen ik op het internet verschillende blogs hierover tegenkwam. Na lang dubben, want hoe begin je een eigen blog, is hier dan toch mijn eerste stuk.
Omdat ik zelf fan ben van de French Manicure, gaat mijn eerste stukje hier dan ook over. Een French manicure is simpel, verfijnd en staat goed bij vrijwel iedere gelegenheid.

For some time, I'm quite addicted to nail polish. This started when I read some blogs about this subject. After a lot of thinking and doubting, because how do you start a blog, here’s my first post. Since I’m a fan of French Manicures, I’m writing my first blog about this. A French manicure is simple, refined, and is also suitable for almost any occasion.

Voor deze French manicure heb ik dit keer Hema lakjes gebruikt. Deze lakjes zijn redelijk goedkoop (volgens mij rond de €2 à €3). Als basis heb ik megashine nummer 307 gebruikt. Het is een mooie zalmroze kleur met een beetje shimmer. Het lakje smeert helaas niet zo lekker en het duurt ook vrij lang voor een laag is opgedroogd. Ook dekt het lakje niet super, dus heb ik 2 lagen gebruikt.

For this French manicure I used polishes of the Hema (this is a Dutch store). The polishes here are fairly cheap (I guess around € 2 to € 3). As a base I used mega shine number 307. This is a lovely salmon pink color with a little shimmer. Unfortunately the polish lubricates pretty bad and it also takes quite a long time before one layer is dry. Also the polish doesn’t cover very good, so I had to use two layers.

Daarna heb ik een witte rand aangebracht op de uiteinden van mijn nagels. Hiervoor heb ik het lakje French Manicure White Coat gebruikt. Ook deze lak dekt niet super waardoor je of heel dik moet lakken of twee keer.

Ik heb deze keer ervoor gekozen om heel dik te lakken. Nadeel hiervan is wel dat je amper kan bewegen omdat anders de witte lak uitloopt. Omdat ik zelf het een enorm gepriegel vind om uit de losse pols de tips van mijn nagels wit te lakken, plak ik deze af met plakband. Op deze manier zorg je ervoor dat het niet uitloopt.

After this I applied a white border on the tips of my nails. For this I have used the polish French Manicure White Coat. This polish also doesn’t cover in one layer, so you have to use 2 layers or a very thick layer.
This time I decided to use a very thick layer. The downside of this is that you can hardly move because otherwise the white polish leaks. Since I find it a huge hassle to freehand the tips of my nails, I covered the rest of my nails with tape. By this way you ensure that the white isn’t leaking.

Om deze manicure wat meer eigen te maken heb ik er nog wat nailart overheen geplaatst. Hiervoor heb ik gestempeld met imageplate M25 van Konad. Omdat ik zelf fan ben van paars heb ik het lakje Midnight Star van Orly uit de Gem collectie gebruikt. Ik heb de bloemetjes geprobeerd te stempelen over de scheidingslijn op mijn nagel. Zoals jullie zien is dat soms niet helemaal gelukt. Daarna heb ik nog een krilstalletje geplaatst in het midden van een bloem op mijn duim om het geheel af te maken.

After I finished this manicure, I thought it was still a little bit boring. To make it my own, I’ve put some nail-art over the manicure. To apply this flower image I stamped with plate M25 from Konad. Since I’m a fan of purple, I’ve decided to use Midnight Star from Orly to stamp the flowers. I’ve tried to stamp the flowers all at the same place. At last I added a rhinestone in the middle of a flower on my thumb to finish the look.

Wat vinden jullie van het resultaat? Zouden jullie ook gestempeld hebben of houden jullie van een simpele manicure?
